No stars for this place. Wow .... We are both chefs and expected more from this place. Worst Mexican good we hv had in Texas . Shared combo chicken and beef fajitas for two... At $25 a plate. Arrived with a side of beans and rice for both of us, lukewarm platter of the fajitas. There was about 4 oz of chicken on a platter of lukewarm grilled onions that were still partially raw and 1 slice of green pepper and one slice of red pepper. The beef that was on the platter tasted fake.. Had a rubbery texture to it and tasted like chemicals.... Yuck. It was probably that fajita meat that u buy in a bag that is injected with a lot of stuff... Just not good. We had asked for corn tortillas and they delivered flour ones ... Finally we got our corn tortillas, delivered in a plastic bag ..?? That was weird too... Took them out of the bag and the were dry and hard... Only thing good about the food was the cold beer. So if you go... The bar looks cool, patio area was not officially opened yet.... just hv a beer at the bar .... Oh and I heard they charge for the chips at the bar per basket.... Really ...? The waitress was nice .. And she can't control the food ... So maybe I will give the one star to her. We are now at home grilling a flat iron steak medium rare and veggies.... Because we are both hungry!

I have had lunch at Fresco's twice with mixed results. The first time was about 2 weeks after it opened and we had a party of 10 adults. The waiters struggled with the order a bit, but it was obvious they were still being trained. The most memorable thing about the first experience was how totally BLAND the sour cream chicken enchiladas were. The meat had NO trace of spices and appeared to be boiled white meat with not so much as a hint of salt or pepper - the sauce could not make up for this lack of flavor. This was surprising for a restaurant that promised a " fabulous menu." The second time was about two months later with a smaller party of only 4. I ordered the same dish just to measure for improvements, and was pleasantly surprised. It was actually quite good. The service was dramatically improved as well. This trip, however, we were not offered the variety of salsas we had tried before. I will be attending a party in two of the cabanas later this week and I am looking forward to it. I hope they can win us over - they have potential and we really need a go-to place in this area for patio dining. The competition is pretty stiff with Anemia's, Blue Goose, and Angelina's (Agave Azul could almost make this list, too).

My husband and I went on a date night and decided to try Frescos. The outside was nice. We grabbed a drink at the bar while waiting to be seated. The restaurant has a lot of potential. I loved the atmosphere until we were seated for dinner. It was modern and trendy, but still appropriate for either casual or dress wear. The staff were all kind, but seemed to be disorganized and confused. We did go when it was fairly new, so I won't hold that against them, but perhaps some servers with prior experience at other restaurants should have been hired. I lost my love of the atmosphere when we were seated within half a foot of other tables. It was awkward and slightly uncomfortable to sit so close to strangers. I ordered the brisket tamales. The smell of them was revolting. The taste was horrible. I normally eat my food even if I don't care for it, but I could not force myself to eat more than a couple bites. They were awful. The waitress did not even seem to notice that I did not eat any of my food. We had to stop for fast food after leaving. This restaurant has a lot of potential, but needs a lot of work. Pros: Great appearance Trendy bar area Modern atmosphere Cons: Terrible, stinky food Sub-par service by confused employees Tables so close that you might as well join the tables together and sit with strangers.

Salmon with equites was delish. The sangria is always good. And the homemade tortillas never disappoint.

I thought dinner was really good. Lots of different ways to order brisket, so I ordered the brisket tamale and it did not disappoint. The queso was very good as well as the salsa. They were very attentive to our drinks and I was happy to see Modelo Especial on tap. I will definitely be back to try the brisket tacos or the brisket quesadillas. Nice atmosphere especially in the bar.

Disappointing. Inconsistent service, mediocre food, and run by penny pinchers. Went with wife and friends last night. Since there are not a lot of dinning choices in Highland Village, we really wanted this to be great. It was mediocre at best. Service is very inconsistent. the hostess barely acknowledged us. Stood there for five minutes before she took down out name. It was mass confusion at the hostess station. We were not directed to the bar but went out to the patio bar because we knew it was there. Margaritas were good but very expensive. We spent $80 on drinks and they wanted to charge us $2 for chips and salsa...who does that. Most Mexican restaurants are proud of their salsa and freely give you as much as you want... Not this place. At the dinner table we did get salsa but only a tiny cup with a few tablespoons of salsa. Then the weirdness happened. The waiter came out with a plate with a spoonful of three additional salsas...like four of us where going to taste test off the same plate. If you want me to try a different salsa bring a bowl to the table. Table side guacamole was good. Entrees were mediocre... Nothing special. On a positive note our waiter was great. They better fix things quick or they will follow in the footsteps of Life's a Beach.

If pretty nice new with art on the walls this place has it. We are all about the food so this place does not do it. We have went there for the second time probably the last. When we go someplace new we always try to order different things so we can try. The salsas. Eh. That is pretty much what everything was, eh. Nothing was bad but nothing was worth describing.

Make sure you have reservations!!!! Margaritas and the salsa are the best in the area. Great bar area that is very large and has several TVs. Give em a shot!

The food was good, the service was good, the atmosphere was nice. We were there on a Saturday and they had all of the college football games on.

Atmosphere was very nice, seemed strange to see such a price place using a rolling cart to bring out the food & to serve guacamole from & to see staff in shorts. Other than that, Fajitas were good, queso was not worth the price, I wouldn't order it again, service was good at the beginning but once food was on table that was it, I had to flag down help once & get up & get someones attention a 2nd time, the staff seem to being staring into space. Pretty pricey, I can get just a good or better across the street for a lot less $.

I have eaten at Frescos twice now, and both times had to wait way too long for our meal to arrive. It seemed the server was waiting to see if we would order more drinks before thinking of bringing our food. We repeatedly told the server we had to go to the Marcus football game, but to no avail we waited about 45 minutes to be served. I can't rate all of the food because I have only been there twice. I was pleased with what I received, however you need to get a handle on the wait time for food or your restaurant could suffer.

  • Casey B.

The first time I went the food was good. Nothing to write home about, but good. The drinks are some of the most hand crafted and detailed I have seen in the flower mound area. Very yummy alcoholic beverages and great to see pitchers. The second time I walked in at 8:55 on a Tuesday and they turned away my party of four and the other two parties walking in behind us because they close at 9... What Restaurant closes at 9? Any restaurant I worked at even if it was 10:59 we served the people. Any business, especially a new business, should NEVER turn away customers. Foolish move and left a horrible taste in my mouth... Or lack there of, because they did not feed us.

  • Violet S.

The bad outweighed the good for us, so we won't be back. It seems there is always a 30-45 minute wait at this place, which I won't hold against them, but then when you have to wait that same amount of time to get your food (with small children) it just doesn't work for us. On top of all the waiting, the food was just mediocre. We ordered the steak fajitas, fish tacos, & two kids quesadilla meals. One of the quesadillas was cold & hard, while the other was so hot I practically burned my finger on it. The fish tacos smelled & tasted fishy (never a good sign) and my husband's steak fajitas were mushy, like they'd been marinated too long or were not fresh. On the plus side, we liked that the restaurant was new & seemed clean, and everyone was friendly.

Amazing food and great service! We liked everything about this place. Definitely will return. Highly recommend the place as well as the fajitas!

We went to Frescos tonight for Cinco de Mayo. It was great! They had a band playing outside which made it very festive. The food was fabulous. I had the shrimp wrapped in bacon and it couldn't have been better. Our waiter, Colby, did an outstanding job keeping up with our drink orders and anything else we needed. I have been to Frescos at least 6 other times and the food and service have always been fantastic!

  • Chris O.

Food was great and patio was relaxing. Singer was pretty entertaining. I'd enjoy hanging out and having margaritas all night except their margaritas are a rip off. I consider them just above sample size, and a pitcher looks like a decent deal but there's this ~12 ounce silver can that you can't see (in the middle, under the margarita). Supposedly it's ice to keep you drink cold (as if it weren't 80% ice to begin with). What it amounts to is a lot less value! Eat here, drink elsewhere...

Went here looking for something new in the HV area. The food was actually really good with excellent flavor. The rice was quite dry though and the portion horribly small. My biggest complaint has to be the service, no " team" atmosphere among the staff. We asked for table side guacamole and when the kid was done and asked if there was anything else we needed, we asked for corn tortillas, to which he replied "you will have to ask your server for that". We had to ask our server twice for the tortillas, which doesn't seem like an unusual request T a Mexican restaraunt. The margaritas were average at best, nothing really stood out about them. Not really a place I would choose to go to again unless it is just convenient.

Wow! What a great meal! The portions are huge and super tasty! Everything is so fresh and what a difference it makes! We tried the brisket tacos with potatoes and street coen and fajita chicken quesadillas. My daughter (the Mexican restaurant aficionado) said is by far better than any others (even Chuy's)! Try the habenaro salsa. Holy crap it is HOT!!! Pretty sure the fire went through to my ear. Caused chills. Couldn't put it down! The atmosphere works And can't wait for the extended patio cabanas to open! Welcome to the neighborhood and wishing you great success!!!

Decent drinks, bland food, far too over priced for both. My husband and our friends have been here 3 times since they have opened, each time has been worse than the last. Usually we will sit in the bar area while waiting for our party to join us, and waiting for a table. (This place is always on a wait) The atmosphere isn't bad, although there are no decorations and the restaurant is poorly lit. My husband loves their lime mojitio and their sangria swirl margarita is phenomenal. Unfortunately, the drinks are the peak for Fresco's. They have a great patio, but when we went two weeks ago when it was 75 degrees outside on a Saturday, they said the patio was closed. The table side guacamole is horrible. They say it is made how you like, but that is false. They give you extra ingredients on the side if you wish to modify it yourself. The entrees, like the guacamole are bland and have no flavor. My husband has had their steak and while he likes the cut of meat and tenderness the flavor is lacking. That being said, the food is not nearly as bad as the service at this place. The last time we went (and the last time we will go) we had a party of 13 and our waiter was taking our food order. In the middle of him doing so, a female came up behind him and asked him a question and he said 'give me a minute, I'll go with you.' He takes our order and we don't see him at all until AFTER our food comes out. Which came out completely wrong. My shrimp dinner had been forgotten to be ordered. When we finally did see our wAiter he smelled like an ash tray, and said he didn't put in our order so it wasn't his fault it was wrong. So I guess, he handed off our ticket and went for a smoke break with his girlfriend. Nice managing. After our meal I was going to mention this to a manager, however, I saw him taking a smoke break on the back patio. The back patio we couldn't sit on, but employees can take smoke breaks out there while there are customers in the restaurant. Needless to say, poorly managed, not great food, and too expensive for all the negative aspects that come along with dining there...Life's a Beach didn't last and neither will Fresco's I hope they can find something for that property because it is great space

The best fajitas and chile rellenos you'll find anywhere! Busy place, but what do you expect when the food is this good? Great margaritas too! I consider myself to be a TexMex connoisseur, and this place is incredible!

    (5)
  • Joel A.

Overall, everything about this place was mediocre. When comparing tex mex places in DFW, this is at the lower end of the scale. There are Mexican food places within 3 miles of Fresco's location that are significantly better.

    (2)
  • Nathan B.

Probably had some of the best Mexican food in the HV/FM/Lewisville area. The Caesar fajita tacos were great, and my friend loved the brisket tacos. The salsas were something to make sure to try, and the chips were perfect. The queso also tastes like the kind my mom makes, and it was delicious. It's a bit of a wait after 6:30, but it's busy at any restaurant like that around that time. Definitely worth going back.

I have been waiting for this restaurant to open since I found out the old Life's a Beach was finally getting a new occupant. I have been to the location in Saginaw and really enjoyed the great food and atmosphere. My favorite place to eat has always been out on a patio so that the sunshine or stars and fresh air can add to my experience. So anytime I have the opportunity to eat outside I do. So, imagine my surprise when after our drinks and appetizers were delivered, I smelled someone smoking. I immediately started sneezing and looking for where the disgusting odor was coming from. I thought surely that it was from the other side of the wood wall, but no, it was from 20 feet away! I asked our very nice waitress if people were allowed to smoke out here and she was very unsure of how to answer and said she would ask the manager. By the time she returned 4 people were in a group smoking. She told me that the manager said that if they were 25 feet from the door it was ok. They might have been 25 feet from a door, but they were less than 10 feet away from eating customers. After 30 minutes our group had to leave. I spoke to the very polite manager and he told me that they are trying to decide on a smoking policy. I know 4 people that won't be back until a no smoking policy goes into effect as well as most of their friends. It is just too bad because the waitress was great and so were the appetizers. We only had appetizers because they do not serve dinners on the patio. Not sure why though.

Always a great choice for Mexican food! It's delicious and fresh, and they have a lot of choices. They bring you chips and salsa on the house, and you can ask them for their specialty salsas; I love the habanero. Have also tried the queso and guacamole (you can't go to a Mexican restaurant and not get them at least once). Both are very good; not sure if they're anything special but I would get them again. If you're afraid to come here and try something new, the fajitas are always a safe option. They're always well cooked when I get them- not too dry or undercooked. The tortillas are fresh which is a nice bonus, and they taste great! You'll get the usual rice and beans and little side plate of guac, sour cream, pico, and cheddar. The Caesar chicken tacos are also really delicious. Not too much Caesar dressing in them so they are overly soggy like you'd think. The cilantro rice is a nice side but isn't anything special, and you also get beans. I really enjoy the fish tacos on corn tortillas. The tilapia is cooked well and the mango salsa on top really fits. You get to choose two sides (I think), and there are several options for sides. If you want a dessert, sopapillas are always the way to go! Only four stars because sometimes the service is slow and there tend to be long waits between visits from the waiters/waitresses. It's also a fairly expensive place, so if you go, expect to spend more than pocket change!

So--this one is hard. Street corn is awesome. Limited edition hatch green chili queso was fantastic. My frozen pina colada, while odd, was tasty and I like the atmosphere. And the rest just falls apart. Ancho sauce is way bitter, and I'm a big fan of ancho. Rellleno was not good. Charro beans were just okay. Service was so terrible I over-tipped because the waitress was NEVER COMING BACK with my change. I guess the answer is to just get queso and drink--and then have exact change. OR, go somewhere else. This is the Metroplex, not like there's a shortage of good Tex Mex!

It was fortunate that we arrived around 5 pm on a Sunday afternoon before the supper crowd became a real crowd. By the time we left there was a wait and the noise level was high. Service was prompt and friendly. Complimentary chips were thin and crisp. The salsa looked dark brown and lethal but was not fiery. It was tasty. We skipped appetizers and went right to entrees. I had brisket tacos and my companion, fish tacos. My brisket tacos were served with a incendiary sauce that I could not eat but if you like a hot salsa that stuff would fit the bill. The set-up plate accompanying the tacos included 2 wedges of lime, cilantro and finely diced white onion. I love onion with brisket tacos and not all Tex Mex places think to provide them. Red rice, their name for the dish, and churro beans came with this plate. Both were fine. My companion raved about the fish tacos. The were made up of grilled tilapia, onions and a salsa that had bits of pineapple. It was served with a sweet sauce and included one item choice of sides. Companion chose poblano pepper rice which was also well received. Dessert was flan. It wasn't the best we've ever had and I'm still trying to figure out the unusual taste that stayed with me after we ate it. This was not something we'd order again.

Not my fav, but decent food close to my house! We have never had a horrible experience. Service had always been great. Last time we were there, it was slow getting our food as some large parties placed an order right before us, but our server let us know. Great place for the family and large patio seating!

Great food and ambience. The table side guacamole is good. They have chips and salsa on the house and if you are feeling adventurous ask for their spicy salsas which are on the house as well. They have excellent quesadillas; they come in 3 varieties and type 1 is my choice (you will figure it out when you see the menu. BBQ ribs 4.25 of 5. Excellent. Very tender and practically fall of the bone. --- My ratings scale :) 5 of 5 Perfect. I don't usually do Tex Mex but wifey wanted to try this place. Have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. The tortilla chips were so good. We had to make an effort not to eat too many before our entrees arrived. I had the chile relleno stuffed with brisket. Love the smokiness of the chile. The brisket could use more smoke but this is not a BBQ joint so I let it slide. The rice and beans were also very good. Definitely RTE to try more of their menu.

Wow!!! So good!!!! A group of 5 of us came for dinner on a Tuesday night for the first time. We sat in the bar/cocktail area and had a waiter named Michael (Mikey?). He was insanely amazing and knowledgable of the product. The food was delicious! The Mexico City Street Corn is to DIE for! Definitely coming back!

Worst service I have ever received! I would give this establishment less than one star if it was possible! I travel frequently for work and have the opportunity to dine in many restaurants from coast to coast and I have never had waitress to totally ignore me and treat me rudely until tonight. The food was not all that and very over priced. I left this joint and went to Mi Cocina and had a much better meal with better service. Save your money and have a more enjoyable meal elsewhere.

Just walked in and sat down. Our waitress is very rude, we will see about the food. No matter how good the food is when service is this bad it will be hard to get past.

Some of the best authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) food in the area. The Mexico City Street Corn has been deemed awesome form my wife's tia (aunt) who is from Mexico. They will initially bring out salsa which is suitable for gringos but you can ask for the seriously hot salsa. They will bring out three salsas that will set you on fire right in your seat. I haven't had anything bad on the menu. The shrimp are my favorite.

This was an unplanned visit, as we saw it at dinner time and thought why not. The parking lot was crowded but there was no wait at all. The restaurant is much bigger then it looks. All staff members were pleasant enough, though the waiter was a bit over on the charm and under on the action. He asked us for our drink orders while we were still in the process of sitting down. Later we ordered a side of guacamole, because the fajitas apparently don't come with any, and it came as we were almost done. The fajitas for two by the way, which include "a pound of meat," were served with very hot tortillas and lukewarm meat. It was a questionable pound too. All in all not a great choice for families I think. The energy of the staff seems to be spent on serving drinks to large groups. None of the food made it above average.

This is absolutely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Growing up it was a family favorite, and I actually played in the patio in a band when I was around 13. They paid me in food and it was a very rewarding experience. I have gotten the steak fajita enchiladas for the past 5 years. My sister also gets the quesadillas all the time, and we have fought because I take the leftovers. The staff is friendly and I will go back there as long as I'm near. I would give this 10 stars if I could. Go! It's worth it. Get the queso speciale!

I'm sadly going to have to take away a star because the last 2 times I have visited, I have been disappointed with the service. Both times were on a Saturday morning. The first time, I had to ask for my cup of coffee 3 times before it finally arrived and when it did, it was cold. Our server never came back to refill it. Also we ordered - and paid for - queso that we never received. This was not discovered until later. I could understand if the place was packed, but it wasn't. We were also offered a champagne mimosa by one of the management staff but after waiting 20 minutes for it, we decided to leave. A friend and I went for brunch this past Saturday. We got there at 12:15. By 12:45 we still had not seen our server again to take our order, so I hunted someone down to get our food orders in. The food came out at 1:15. So we literally waited an hour to get food when again, it was not packed. Our server checked on us only once, so we kept flagging random wait staff down to refill our drinks and finally, to get our bill. We finally walked out at 2:00 - late for other plans. The food is still absolutely amazing. Maybe more staff is needed. I'm not sure, but something needs to change quick or we will be forced to find a new favorite Mexican food place...which would be very sad.

I really love this restaurant. I have been several times and the food is consistently good. I usually get the tilapia fish tacos with corn tortillas and they are by far some of the best fish tacos I've had. Plenty of meat, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The chicken fajitas are awesome too. I am not a big corn eater, but the Mexican street corn is to die for. The Sangria is excellent and always well made. They also have covered cabanas outside with fans and t.v.'s. The service could be better - they can be somewhat disorganized, but the good food and drinks make up for it. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Love Fresco's! The food was delicious! The fajita steak and brisket is so yummy! Lots of options, and great drink list. All margaritas have real lime juice! Staff was super friendly and helpful! And outdoor patio is awesome-know the heat can be unappealing right now!!

Walked in, hostess said "wait is 15-20 minutes." 50 minutes later, we were sat. Waited 10 minutes for waters. Currently sitting here, another 30 minutes in with no food. I understand a place can be busy on a Saturday night, but just be real with me when we first walk in. We could have went to Fuzzy's and been home by now.

This was our first visit, and we have pretty high expectations for Mexican food since we do live in Texas, and this place was amazing!! The margaritas were fantastic, and the wait staff and management went above and beyond from what we expected. We mentioned we had never come here before, and not only did they let us sample all the variations of salsa that they hand make each day, but also let us try the different meat selections, so that we knew what to expect when we ordered. Compared to their pricing, which is comparable to a nicer establishment, the service was above and beyond. We are now regulars here!!

Our party of 6 arrived at 5:50 on Saturday evening, expecting the typical crowd and obligatory wait. 55 minutes later after asking the hostess for an update, she said the had accidentally deleted several parties and it would be another 10-15 minutes. Finally after getting a table we had a bit of a wait to order drinks and get chips/salsa but once our server arrived, the service was very smooth and attentive. Both the manager and our server continually stopped by. The food was very good as usually. We had quesadillas, brisket tacos, steak enchiladas (chicken and need) which were all very good. Their salsa is fabulous - especially the spicy sampler. All in all a good experience but the hostess girls bring down 5 stars to 4. I've been here around 20 times in the past 6 months and never once had a good experience with the hostesses. Tables sit empty while the chit chat and gossip. They just don't get it. Food 4.5 out of 5 Service 5 out of 5 (excluding hostesses) Hostesses 2 out of 5 We will continue to be back each week. I would highly recommend Frescos - just don't expect to get a table with less than an hour wait.

I love this place! The patio ambiance is amazing! Its so relaxing. I have been twice in one week. The food is awesome....I had the tilapia tacos and the Acapulco Shrimp Brochette. Both are amazing. The chefs definitely know how to cook seafood. I will agree with the service being slow the second time I went. However, the first time, our server (Collin) was very attentive. He was funny, polite, and very quick with service. We will be going back very soon!

My husband and I love this place. It's close to home, amazing food, nice environment, and live music outside. We always sit on the patio band side. Last time I had the fish tacos with the street corn which was amazing! We highly recommend this place for Mexican food and live entertainment.

First time that I ate here, it was good. We had the fajitas. They were tasty and the portion was good sized. Also had the sangria. Again it was good and came in a large glass which it should since most of the drink is juice and ice will a little bit of wine and brandy. The second time we ate there, not so good. The portions were much smaller and the sangria came in a wine glass of mostly ice. When I complained about the sangria, the server told me he would get me a bigger glass for my next one. I was not happy about that. He should have replaced the first one I ordered. I was not happy about that. Overpriced. I'm not in any hurry to return. Way too many better options in the area.

So far, so great! We've been here for brunch twice, two Sundays in a row. Chelsea took care of us both times (at a bar table). And she's so sweet. Their brisket is amazing. Everything was wonderful, except the mimosas are a little bitter, but fine. The atmosphere is so nice, and the place is so open and pretty. Their outside cabana is beautiful, too. I can't wait until it warms up so we can hang out there.

Came here Saturday night with my sister and brother-in-law for some (much needed) margaritas and the place was packed! We originally tried sitting inside at the bar but couldn't find a table so we opted to sit on the outdoor patio. As soon as we sat down our bartender, Skylar, brought us chips and salsa and asked if we needed drinks. Not only did he make great margaritas but he continued to provide amazing service throughout the night. I definitely recommend coming here because you can't go wrong with good food, good drinks and an equally amazing staff!

I sipped and chewed my way across three surrounding cities this year; tracking the latest cocktail and Mexican food trends and hunting for exceptional standouts among the predictable and the pretentious. Towards the end of my journey I began feeling discouraged; beaten by the amount of colorless establishments and carelessly crafted dishes. As the remaining drops of hope evaporated from my taste receptors, Fresco's descended upon Highland Village like a thriving desert oasis to quench my unending thirst. While I wasn't expecting surprises in this unusual looking building with tall ceilings and hard wood floors, the tantalizing aroma of sizzling fajitas and fresh tortillas did just that. From it's contemporary spin on the classic Mexican Martini to it's live-wire fruity tang Strawberry Margarita, the bar delivers an intoxicating variety of cocktails at a reasonable price. I was lucky enough to savor their newly improved Paloma, which tasted crisp with fruity character and a hint of baked agave. Sometime before or after the Paloma I was dazzled by a Strawberry Margarita that was a sweet and smooth mixture of premium tequila and magnificent strawberries, tasting as if they'd come straight from the farmer's market. It was a pleasant reminder that not all fruit margaritas are palate flattening fruit bombs. At first glance the menu may seem to present an overwhelming amount of options, however all are stellar and prove that Frescos has designed a menu for everyone. My favorite was the Chile Rellano rolled in a soufflé batter. It's a versatile, flavorful and comforting combination of roasted green chilies, cheese, protein and a creamy egg mixture. The phenomenal taste which is spiked with a variety of seasonings may remind you that life isn't about being unhappy where you're not, It's about being happy where you are. My second pick, and another staple, is the delicious Chimichanga. It's tortilla shell is baked to a crisp golden brown, stuffed with fajita-style protein of your choice and can be covered in queso if it gives you a sense of peace. Frescos is a gem of its kind and demonstrates what a reward excellent food and beverage can be when provided by good company and outstanding staff. Among all the restaurants I have unearthed in the last twelve months Frescos has shone brightest from appearance to finish, it has demonstrated an unmatched passion in the category of Tex-Mex and proven ideal for any occasion. Have what you will, it's all good here.

Took over vacant life a beach location and started very well. Good quality chicken fajitas. Was hot at the beginning. Has cooled down end 2014. Still favorite Texmex in neighborhood.

Made a reservation. No wait. Waiter was outstanding he really gave us great recommendations since we were new. Ordered tableside guac. Yum! I had shrimp stuffed with cheese, jalapeño and wrapped in bacon. Husband had rib meat tacos. Everything was really good and all recommended by the waiter. We will def be back and I saw how busy they were so I will call in again and reserve a table.

This place is a little pricey but the food is great and the atmosphere is yuppy/casual with great outdoor seating. If you're choosing a side dish, try the Mexico City Street Corn. If you want a simple and more than satisfying dish, go with the Quesadilla -number 1.

Food was good! A little loud in the restaurant, but definitely not a deterrent. Will definitely be back to try some of the drinks when the kids aren't in tow.

Atmosphere is nice in restaurant but that is about it. Food is very very Americanized. To be honest, myself, Taco Bell has better tasting Mexican food than this place. I started off with the Chicken Tortilla soup and it has no taste whatsoever. I mean nothing!. I immediately added salt and pepper to get some kind of taste. Next is the main course. Wow, so disappointing. Beef Taco, Beef Enchilada, Chicken enchilada and it came with rice and beans. Again the taco meet zero taste. It was so disappointing as I was told from a friend this place was good. I guess they have no idea what good Mexican food supposed to taste like if they think this place is good. So remember if you decide to go here remember you were told that the food is not authentic mexican food. Taco Bell here I come.

We love Mexican food and went for our first time tonight. They were the best fajitas I've had! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. It can really ruin a meal when you have bad service but this was a thing but. We hadn't eaten all day and devoured chips (a waiter's worst nightmare, I know,) but never once did we have to ask for a refill on chips, salsa, drinks, or anything. Really, the best we've had in a while. I would highly recommend this place!

Mediocre at best... We decided to give this place a shot as it is close to home and seems popular. Unfortunately, the food was extremely mediocre and our waiter sucked. We had a number of people coming to the table because our actual waiter was obviously in over his head. We were here to celebrate a new job and the waiter came by before I we finished eating and asked if he could bring the check... I guess so? The margaritas were not great and made with a pretty generic tasting mix. Half liquid with ice floating on top from not having the right ratio of ice to liquid. 60 bucks for 2 people for a meal that felt like it should have been 20. Definitely not Pappasitos quality. Not even Christinas quality. Avoid.

Good food, nice atmosphere, live music outside. The brisket chimichanga was delicious, so were the brisket tamales. We loved their chips. Very thin and crispy with some sort of house black bean salsa. The salsa trio was very tasty and the habanero salsa is probably the hottest restaurant salsa I have ever tried. Hunter, our server, was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. The downside was that my wife asked for a gluten free menu and it took asking 3 people including a manager before one was brought out (before Hunter was assigned to our table). There were an abundance of flies (6-8 on our table alone) outside for some reason that made us spend equal amounts of time swatting as eating, and then they forgot my meal so my wife was done eating before my food came. In the end they comped my meal so I have to say they did right by us. We will go back again in the future and possibly update this review.

Some of the best tex mex food I've ever had. I usually get the fish tacos or tortilla soup. The servings are always big no matter what you get. Chips and salsa is great. The staff is always friendly and attentive.

One of my favorite Tex Amex spots! The staff is always attentive and welcoming. Everything I have had here has been very good and consistent. The Fish Tacos, Tacos Costillas and the Esquites are staples and a must try! Fresco's is one of my house holds favorite places. Not to mention the chill patio with outdoor bar!

The service is still hit-or-miss, and last night was a definite miss. I won't detail the issues bc they are the typical "apathetic waiter" issues. I suspect the issue was limited to our waiter, who greeted us with a recitation of how badly he wanted to go home. Mid-week service at 8:00 here apparently includes cleaning under the tables (near dining customers), bs sessions amongst staff in the dining room & a manager who walked by our table (drink glasses empty) twice. The food is the same: middle of the road tex-mex. The hiring of wait-saff seems to be focused on the "bro" & "dude" demographic: fist-bumps and all. The upshot is that this place is the only Tex-mex game in town, so they can be sloppy.

Love this place. We go at least once a week. Their food and atmosphere are amazing. We like sitting at their outdoor bar, on the patio, and in their private cabanas. We have tried several menu items and have never been disappointed. Love the rib tacos and home made tortillas. Our absolute favorite meal is their filet! You wouldn't think of ordering it at a Mexican restaurant but it is one of the best cuts of meat for the price and served with warm butter. And the bacon wrapped shrimp...yum. Their margaritas are not weak and are tasty. Wait staff is friendly as well as their restaurant manager and kitchen manager (who comes out to check on how everything was cooked) Highly recommend checking it out. Delicious, fresh food at a reasonable price.

Been back many times since my first review. This place is now our family favorite. The food is always great, though I'm really not crazy about any of their salsas. We get the table side guacamole every time, despite the fact that we always have to add our own salt. That's okay, though. The abaca do and tomatoes are always ripe and fresh. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially with the back deck opened. We've enjoyed live music there several times and the cabanas are great for a large party on a hot afternoon or evening. The service is above average for this price point. The young wait staff are generally friendly, eager and competent. I'll stay at four stars until they offer a better salsa and until I no longer have to add seasoning to the guacamole.

The food here is great, the 5 different salsas give a nice variety for all of your taste buds. I would not skip on getting a side of the esquittes it is a unique Mexican cream corn that I have not found ANYWHERE more tasty in the metroplex. The food might be a little pricey, but if you are on a budget I would get the pick your own two items and try the Caesar tacos with an enchilada. They have nine different sides to choose from, I would recommend trying all of them for their differences, but the black beans are delicious. Everything is FRESH! The tortillas are made in front of you, and not to mention they have a FULL gluten free menu, along with gluten free tortillas. If you are able to splurge, I would get the filet and shrimp, all seasoned and cooked to perfection. The drinks are good, overpriced, but that is what you get when you go to restaurants these days, however I would try the HOMEMADE sangria and especial margarita. The staff including the managers are very friendly. knowledgeable, and helpful. Patio is absolutely fantastic, they have done a great job fitting in the Denton/Lewisville area, and after trying Angelina's for the first time a few days ago, I would pick Fresco's all day long.

After all the hype of this place opening, I was unimpressed. The service was lacking, the drinks were almost non alcoholic and the food was not worth the prices. My husband ordered steak enchiladas, and i think there were 4 slices of steak on the top, and nothing but cheese in the middle.. I had the brisket tacos...with an extra side of fatty gristle. We thought dessert would be better, so tried the soppapias, and again, not good. These were the texture of a actual flour tortilla (thick), with a liquid honey sugar mix on the bottom..no cinnamon, sugar, etc. Also, given all the plates and bowls were blazing hot (even the kids dinner), I think they may microwave everything and then put it on the table. Never going again!

We have been here several times and will be back. I loved that when i asked for a ginger ale and bourbon, it was actually ginger ale and not sprite w/ splash of coke. My go to? The Rib eye and Shrimp. We have met the manager several times. He is always there and always hustling. One time, my steak was over cooked and he promptly got it fixed. I love a good rib eye steak and this is right up there. The manager keeps saying that the filet is just as good, but that's because he is a Yankee (aka anyone born north of the red river) and just doesn't know any better =P

We timed our visit at the right time. Sunday afternoon the place was uncrowded. The manager brought us a sampling of brisket and fajita meat (both beef and chicken) when he learned it was our first visit. The margaritas are tasty and have the right amount of tequila. The chips are thin and crispy and warm and the variety of salsas are tasty.

We enjoy the food we have gone on 3 different occasions and always ordered different things and been pleased. The salsa is great, we love the smokiness to it. It was rainy this evening and the enclosed patio was great and quiet which was nicer than the loud hustle and bustle of the restaurant. The drinks tonight were awful! I have had a mojito there before and it wasn't the best one I've ever had but it was ok, tonight's however I couldn't even drink. After I resolved not to drink it, I looked around and saw other people at other tables who had ordered the same thing and seemed to be drinking very slowly or not at all, so my guess is we were all disappointed. Too bad cause the drinks aren't cheap.

Excellent restaurant! The food is consistently great. Have the Fresco corn on the cob! I could live on it! The skinny margaritas are great too. We love the chips and salsa and have had good luck with wait staff and have been at least a dozen times. Our only complaint EVER with Fresco's is the noise! Very noisy! But still we go there because the food is so great!

I'm going to make this review quick: 1) Very loud place partially due to everybody in Highland Village just begging for a new restaurant. The place is packed every night and the layout of the interior doesn't help reduce the noise. 2) Food was so so. Enchiladas were horrible. Fajita or grilled type meat dishes were better. 3) Stupid amount of wait to get a table. 4) Service was also so so. Due to the number of people the staff couldn't keep up. All and all I don't see what the big deal is besides the fact it's new. I would much rather go to Blue Goose or Christina's. I don't think I will go back. The experience is not worth the trouble.

This was our first visit and it was awesome! Our server Maddy was so nice and totally on top of service! She walked us thru the menu and pointed out some great ideas. She figured out it was out first time and had the manager (Aaron) come over and bring us a sample if their meat. It was so great! Plus they also brought over hatch chili queso (which is not in the menu) to try! It was delicious! We went with the chili com queso and beef and shrimp fajitas for 1. All that was enough for my husband and I! They have a massive patio outside and 3 cabanas that have TVs on them! We can't wait to have a Sunday fun day there! This is a must try place!!!!

The place was crowded on a Sunday night but I was not impressed. I liked that they opened the bar area up by removing some walls but the place lacks character. Bar is very good size with plenty of place to eat if you want to eat in the bar. The main dining area was very cramped with not much room to walk between tables and tables were on top of tables. Queso was ok but it would have been nice to have small plates as opposed to dripping all over the table with each dip. I was not impressed with my dinner - combo chicken enchilada and beef crispy taco - bland. No seasoning to the taco meat. I ordered a cup if tortilla soup only to learn when they brought it out that they only serve bowls. Meal in itself, plenty of chicken in the soup but bland as well. I do not like spicy foods but like to have some flavor which I felt was lacking in both. I was told the fajita nachos were good and the brisket salad was pretty good. The salad was enough for two and we wasted half if it. I think the blandness of the food carries over into the lack of decorations on the walls. No real Mexican atmosphere. The services was good and the waitress was attentive as she never let my water glass empty. The kitchen messed up my daughters ordered. On two occasions I saw a server bring out food for the wrong table, including ours. I can say we tried it but would not rush back for dinner but willing to try a margarita in the bar.

This is our second visit here, they just opened in Highland Village. I will reserve a critical review until another time. I'll let them get somewhat established. This review will focus solely on the food and beverages. In our two visits we have had the tacos de pato (twice), the rellenos with cochinita pibil (wrapped in bacon) and the fish tacos. Thus far the food will keep us coming back. The drinks appear to be somewhat small but they are very good as well and will sneak up on you if you are not careful. Give them a try and I believe you will enjoy it.

After waiting for this place to open for what seems like forever, my family and I finally paid Fresco's a visit on their 6th day of being open. There was a slight wait but nothing more than expected for a new restaurant. The ambience reminded me of a toned down Mi Cocina. The wait area was nice for my 4 yo. son. It is big with comfortable chairs. I always say that the best indicator of how good a Mexican restaurant will be is the quality of their salsa. It's freshly made here with plenty of kick. They also have a toned down salsa for kids. Great idea btw... I had beef fajitas and my wife had the pollo con queso blanco. Both were great. The hostesses run seating through a tablet system, which I think is much overdue and waitstaff is very accommodating but you can tell that the restaurant is still working out some bugs in the timing and service but I'd say they are 95% there. We will be back since it's in the neighborhood and good on top of that!

What a great place! I had enchiladas and my wife had chicken fajitas. Both were fantastic but what is better, is the service! Ask for Lauren because she was awesome and hot too. The sangria is good and strong, to the point they only allow you to order two. They have good Happy Hour specials and the managers are always around asking about the experience. Jackie is a sweetheart and there is a ton of room inside and out. A must try if you are in the area!

Finally pulled into the parking lot when they were welcoming visitors and not on private party night, or before the 4:00 PM opening time on Sunday. Unlike the reviewer below, I am going to say they did a GREAT job remodeling, removing the wall that divided the bar from the restaurant created a lively vibrant feel inside and the overall decoration is great. The new furniture is excellent and adds to an upscale feel. The volleyball courts are gone and will be replaced with all outdoor seating when completed with a buffer of landscaping toward the back to limit sound from the athletic fields. They are building private dining cabana's for parties of up to 12, I believe, and they look like they will be super cool. The food is great with 5 different types of salsas, and tortilla soup that is "just right", probably the best on the FloMo/HV area. They were out of brisket when we went so anything that included brisket that night was off the menu, so too bad there.:( With no Brisket option, it was beers and soup. I liked the HH pricing with domestic pitchers about $9.50 and glasses about $2.75. I do not remember the other discounts, I will snap a picture next time there and upload it and will report back as we try more food items.

Have eaten here twice in the last few weeks. The food has been very good and the service excellent. Menu is pretty extensive and I have had the Chili Rellenos stuffed with chicken (outstanding) and the Shrimp Brochette (good but not as good as my fav Anemia's). Family repots that the Fajita Mexicana are very good but that the Tortilla Soup is lacking. One drawback was the noise. We were there on a Saturday night and the noise was so excessive that we could hardly hear each other talk. All in all, a very good new restaurant. I still prefer Anemia's as I like the Shrimp Brochette there better but we will be back.

Went Friday night, was seated on awkward patio with opaque tarp hitting me in the head while I was eating. Maybe it's still under construction but it was kind of weird not to be able to see outside when your seated on the patio. The food tasted good, me and a friend had quesadillas, and the next 2 days both of us had food poisoning.

Had dinner with friends on Cinco de Mayo. Happy Hour all night. Great band on the patio. Brisket tacos with esquites (corn) was amazing. Colby was very attentive to our needs and is a great waiter. Fabulous place in Highland Village. Expanding the patio for summer fun!! Support your local businesses. Great people hiring local help. Glad we tried this restaurant. Had a family table of 8, everyone enjoyed their meal. Looking forward to returning! The good: Salsa Thin chips Service Manager came to visit several times to make sure we are ok Our meals were very good My husband liked the brisket tacos especially The bad: Always a wait Table side guacamole. We order this everywhere we go. The set up was good, the problem was the service. This sweet young man did the best that he could making what he was told was guacamole. You could just tell by the over mixing and style that he was out of his element. It ended up almost puréed without many ingredients. Note to management: go with a person who grew up eating guac and knows how to prepare. Seems silly, but table side guac is important! Ixnay the gringo guac.

We've been wanting it try this place for awhile. The parking lot is always crowed - not sure why. The chips and assorted salsas were good. I had to send the rocks margarita back as it tasted detergent-like...opted for a beer instead. Enchilada plate was bland and tasteless. It's not Mi Cocina.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
